If you are looking ahead to this Collection’s Your Choice activities (you are looking ahead, right?) then you’ll see there’s a lot of opportunity for working with some of your classmates. Thus the question comes up every term: how do I get in touch with other Nousionauts?
I could simply give you an email list…but this class is about living online in as authentic a way as possible, and that’s not how things generally work. So, here are some options for contacting your fellow travelers (and making it easier to be contacted by them…and anyone else interested in your work):
- Use Twitter. Twitter is ideal for this and there is a thriving ed tech community there (one reason I have you trying it). If you and someone else follow each other, you can message them directly. If you don’t, you can Mention them by starting your tweet, or otherwise including in it, their username preceded by an @ character. You could mention me by tweeting with @nousion1 in your tweet.
- Leave a comment on their site. This is the simplest, though you might have to hijack an unrelated post and people often take some time to respond.
- Use a contact form on their site…if there is one. This is where you can be a better web citizen by adding a contact form to your site, which has the benefit of not putting your email address on your site and inviting spam. Creating a contact form is easy with plugins like Very Simple Contact Form.
As always, if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
